I just saw an episode of "Current" TV where they were talking about the infamous ad apparently tres illegal new game in England called "Tube Poker". You win your hand based on who is sitting in a five person bench in the tube car. The elderly are considered Aces down to children which are 10's....you find an annonymous person on the platform to be your partner and ride a train somewhere till someone wins....probably enough to buy an umbrella...

The hop on/hop off tour bus thing is actually pretty fun. It's a nice way to get your bearings in the city and to see the Big Stuff.
Have you actually met your project manager yet? Did anyone offer to take you to tea?

rent or borrow a bike? you can extend your bumming around range.
bike rental. excellent idea. saw a few folks riding on Sunday. might be a bit scary with which side of the street, etc.
