First watermelon

At my retirement party in Charlotte I was given various seed packets. One was watermelon. Here is the first fruit.

End of Summer Party??

JT and Linda hosted an end of summer gathering but I refuse to accept that summer is winding down.  But boy did we have a lot fun and laughter.

Also, as a reminder for future trips - the main story during this year's trip involved a young son named Travis.  And the weekend expression was "poo-poo I say."

Spring Green road trip

Past weekend was the annual Spring Green, Wisconsin, road trip.  This year we saw a Saturday matinee performance of "The Royal Family" at American Players Theatre.  Here we are picnicing after the performance.

Dave and Rose both had brought garden grown cucumbers so we decided to have cucumber sandwiches.  It was a very nice meal and so much fun.

Give Denver credit

Downtown Denver has a lot going on.  The 16th Street mall is a pedestrian friendly street of retail shops and restaurants.  It is several blocks long and is always busy.

All different kinds of shops that stay upon late.  Lots of hotels are just a block or two off the mall. And office towers are just to the east.

And there is a free electric-powered bus that travels frequently up and down the mall.

The maze that is the Minneapolis skyway

I work downtown when I am not traveling so I get to venture into/through the Minneapolis skyway system.  It can be very confusing.

This year's Uptown Art Fair fish

James Anthony Beard is the artist.  These are three separate two dimensional metal fish on long metal rods.  The long rods allow the fish to sway gently in a good breeze.

Cherry Creek run

My first mile-high run in Denver along the Cherry Creek bike/pedestrian path.  I jogged 3+ miles with a co-worker.  It is a beautiful path right along the creek but below street level most of the way.  And it is right in downtown.
