One last project?

These were really "get ready to sell" projects.

The window molding in the main bedroom was looking very dingy though I liked the yellow...not that the rest of the moldings in the room were in any better shape. They just didn't stick out...at least not to me.

Can I tell you how long it takes to prep then paint 3 windows that have multiple panes?! Yikers.

It does look cleaner and neater and I should have taken photo with the custom roman shades but you'll get to see those photos soon enough.

Main bedroom window trim repainted a "neutral" color

I like to call the upstairs bathroom door my "magic" door. It is the original door for the bathroom but had been removed because the toilet and the door did not get along.

When I had the bathroom remodeled in 2007, I convinced the contractor to saw the door in half. I found the bi-fold hinges that would fit. He was very nervous. He said we only get one chance to do this.

The door had to be cut exactly precisely or it wouldn't hang, swing and close properly. It ended up perfect! But I never painted the hall-facing side. Well, now it finally is and looks fantastic.

The door does close like a normal door and hinges out of the way of the toilet. It is truly magic. :-)

What I call the magic door finally painted

Small project, major satisfaction

I looked back on the blog for when I had the walnut shell counters installed. It was in January 2012. Original counter project

I had the bathroom sink counter changed at the same time, I did not have the little pillaster counter changed, however. It has only been a slight bugaboo for me that the counters did not match. You can't see much of the pillaster counter. You can see a bit of the old counter in this blog entry.
But the dumpster inspired me again. The old counter came off a bit easier than I thought it would. The counter consisted of tile, glue, plywood, more glue and nails. It all came off with minor damage to the wall and a corner of the pillaster.

There was a large section of the walnut counter left over. It was the cut-out for the kitchen sink. The walnut shell and epoxy material was not easy to saw but I really like how it all came out. Now the bathroom counters all match.

The latest home project

My latest shower curtain...the third since the bathroom renovation of '07-'08.

Without the shower curtain and rods...yes rods.  If you look at the previous picture you'll see a white rod and a dark-colored rod.

To get a standard length shower curtain to hang below the top of the tub I suspended a curtain rod from a tension rod.  With the dormer window next to the tub, the tension rod has to be very close to the ceiling.
Previous posting of shower curtain rod.
The new sliding solid glass door...with Frankie checking it out from the counter.

Notice that the handle is set parallel and at the same height as the glass tile band.  The fabricators did a great job of getting the alignment just right.
From the "front" angle.

There is a single glass door because the window side is irregularr due to the window frame moldings.  The glass is 75 inches tall and 36 inches wide.

The chrome header is nearly to the ceiling so it ends up being out of the line of sight making the door look frameless.

There is black tape at the bottom right.  It is holding the bottom track while the sealant cures.  The tape comes off this evening.

shower curtain option

The way I had my shower curtain hung was driving me crazy.

My curtain rod is high because of the window. I don't really want an extra long curtain. The curtain rod is so close to the ceiling and hanging the curtain right off the rod makes the shower/tub feel too closed in and dark even though there is a light.

I was using multiple curtain rings to lower the top of the curtain so that it was low enough to keep water in the tub and also let natural light in over the top. But the multiple rings were catching on each other and getting the whole thing tangled up.

Here is the current option. At first I thought to get another curtain rod to suspend below the tension rod.

I headed over to Bed, Bath and Beyond. Next door is a World Market which is going out of business. I stopped in to check out the deals. This curtain rod looked like it would be a "fancier" rod to suspend than a regular curtain rod.

I didn't think about the finials not letting the curtain go to the ends. Luckily the curve of the tub keeps the shower water in where it is supposed to be.

Natural light still gets in over the top now and the curtain slides easily along the metal curtain rod.
