A busy Sunday

The first event of the day was actually cancelled. Friends Duane and Peter were going to host a brunch, however, Duane got really sick earlier on the week. Brunch was cancelled. Duane is doing better.

I went to Isles for coffee and coffee cake with Christine and Brew. Just as I was remembering that there was a work activity I should have checked on, my phone rings with news that the work activity was not going well and my opinion was needed.

I went home to check in on work. As usual there wasn't much I could really do but I did provide input.

My friend Kelly was celebrating her birthday by having a ballroom dance instruction party. It was lots of fun. I decided to get dressed up.

Sunday evening was Sunday Bowlers. I have been bowling quite well lately bit I haven't ever broken the 600 series mark. My first game was a 211. Could this be the night?! It didn't end up to be but I did bowl my best ever with a 562 series!

The third game was so very frustrating. I rolled nearly all 9's and the majority of the throws it was the 9 pin! And I got spares on all of them.
I'm the second bowler, JA. Eight 9's with spares.

It was still great fun. I enjoy bowling tremendously.

Fish fry (last Friday of Lent)

Rose and Amy did last week's fish fry at St. Albert the Great church in the Seward neighborhood of Minneapolis. Amy won a handmade outdoor decoration so Loretta and I joined Rose and Amy at this week's fish fry... the last one of Lent. The church basement was packed and tons of fun.

March Madness

Not the basketball kind of madness but the Minneapolis snow kind. It was forecast that we could get a real snow storm on Sunday but, alas, that did not happen. We did eventually get some. It was the sticky wet kind that is so pretty.

It was also forecast that the snow wouldn't last very long but that hasn't proved true either. It was cold and cloudy enough that it hinge around until last night's little bit more snow.

We can use the moisture for sure. We've barely had any snow this winter.

Pi day 3.1415

Yesterday, 03/14/15, was Pi day. In honor of the day Sue and Todd Alder hosted a Pi party. I went to the liquor store to find an appropriate beverage. I was directed to Pro from Burning Brothers craft brewery. Perfect!

Hot Dash 5k

Twin Cities in Motion's Hot Dash had a lumberjack theme. Trish came up with these plaid union suits. We each made our own yarn beards. We got a lot of compliments and people wanting their photos taken with us.

Cabin fever

Poor Frankie has been stuck indoors all winter. Cabin fever is in full swing. He has now resorted to sitting on the toilet in the first floor bathroom and staring out the window. The backyard bunny does show up every evening which only adds to Frankie's frustration.

Uno on the other hand has no issues with being cooped up indoors. As a matter of fact, the cushier the blanket, the better.

Eagle cam

You have to check out the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources eagle cam.

I was checking on it this afternoon and got to watch one of the parents feeding the chicks. There are three chicks in the nest. The parents are able to get fish for the chicks. Not sure where they are able to find open water since it has been so cold.

Leaf-cutter ants - Costa Rica

I have a lot to learn when it comes to making videos. I tried several times to capture my fascination with these little but very strong animals. I found them incredible.

Apparently these creatures do a great deal of damage both in the jungle and in gardens. They construct huge nests. They use the leaf cuttings to grow fungus in the nests to feed their young.

Black Lightning - back to bright and shiny

After several weeks of grunginess, finally got Black Lightning washed. I really like my truck.
