Mountain lion?

I think Frankie was exploring is inner mountain lion.
I think the humidity is making the photo this color

Crazy spider web (update)

I don't know of this web has been here a while bit I just saw it today. It might be I caught the sun light at just the right time.
This spider web was gone the next day. Then a few days a later another web was woven and I got to see the spider. It is a big one.

Uptown hotel project

There has been a need for a hotel in my neighborhood, Uptown, for a long time. Previous attempts have failed due to cost, location or recession. The latest attempt is actually underway....at the top of my street!

Graves Hospitality got approval from the City Planning Commission for a six-story tall building that will contain a Marriott Moxy branded hotel. Their first proposal was for nine stories! That did not sit well with the neighborhood. They seemed to have the six-story version ready in their back pocket.

There was only one small property one of the two lots. The hotel building will take up the entire two lots and will not have parking. The existing building went down in a matter of a couple hours.

Click Here for a picture of the proposed hotel.

Fantastic lightning show

Last night there was a fantastic lightning show south of Minneapolis. The moon was just past full and the sky was partially cloudy. I stopped at  Lake Calhoun to take some photos and a short video.

Backyard...flora and fauna

I know I shouldn't let Frankie go outside. He doesn't always stay in the yard but he really loves being out doors even though all he does is mostly sleep.
This has been my most successful planting in the fish. The two pink colors are almost an exact match. The cascading plant has been blooming all the time. The other plant, an African daisy, took a break but is now blooming again.

Homemade applesauce -- yummy

Lots of apples have been falling off the tree. Most of these are too small to do anything with. A lot are kind of a mess inside. But there are enough to do something with. I was able to make a good amount of applesauce. Fresh made applesauce is so delicious. I added a tiny bit of maple syrup, too.

The food mill that I got at Kitchen Window last year makes the whole process so much easier.

The best friends ever

I am so grateful for friends that are willing to spend several hours of a glorious Saturday weekend day to help me with Juiced Nutrition projects.

They sanded pallets, stained wood, and cleaned wire shelving and bike parts. Also cleaned and sanded an old metal swinging seat that I found along the side of the road.

Fifteen friends and 3 1/2 hours equals priceless.

Well that didn't work

Tried cooking bacon on the grill again. Had good success the first time. Not so much this time. Burnt to ash.

Brother and sister

Couldn't resist taking a photo with Frankie and Uno together. They don't hang out together very often. Of course, they were waiting for their evening treats.

Athletic Adventure Weekend

Regular Saturday morning run to coffee but today was such a beautiful day. I had stop during my run home to take this photo of me, the Minneapolis skyline and Lake Calhoun with sailboats and other runners.

Saturday afternoon I biked the Midtown Greenway with my friend Dave. We participated in the Midtown Greenway Coalition's Craft Beer Pedaler. Way too much drinking but played it safe and stayed on the Greenway for the most part. Craft beers, craft sake, and craft ciders...all available with easy access to a dedicated bike path and another spectacular view of Minneapolis skyline.

Sunday I joined friends to celebrate Jennifer's birthday at Betty Danger's in nord'east Mineapolis. I decided to ride my bike the 8 1/2 miles. It is a beautiful ride but more taxing than I thought it would be.

Juiced Nutrition web seminar

Took a seminar sponsored by SCORE and the Small Business Administration on on-line marketing and sales. Seminar was conducted by web.com and was inside the Surly Brewing center.

Surly Brewing facility is very nice and very big.

The seminar was helpful and well attended. It poured rain this morning. I had intended on taking public transportation but I got soaking wet on my way to the bus stop. I went back home, changed clothes and drove instead.

In the afternoon I had an appointment with the Minneapolis city license department. I took the light rail to Minneapolis City Hall. Ate lunch before the meeting. The meeting went very well. I was prepared with all the form stuff and corresponding attachments. It took me hours to assemble it all.

I headed back to Surly to get my truck and decided a craft-brewed beer was in order.

I'm excited to work on my e-commerce site. www.juicednutritionuptown.com

109 Years and Done

After 109 years (my house was built in 1907), the bedroom closet door knob self-destructed. I was in the bathroom when I heard a pop and thud. I looked around but didn't see anything obvious.

I thought I had seen Uno so figured she had knocked something on to the floor. When I went in the bedroom to get dressed, I saw the little spring in the photo lying on the floor. The doorknob looked okay but the knobs didn't turn and there was another pop.

I took the thing apart and discovered the broken brass piece at the bottom of the photo. Now I'll see if I can find a replacement. Hmmm.

This falling apart thing was totally spontaneous. I wasn't near the door or doorknob. Is the ghost of Elizabeth back?

Backyard garden

A little bragging... I so enjoy my backyard gardens. Flowers, vegetables, fruit tree and bushes. The morning light really seems to highlight everything a bit.
