What the...?

You can buy these very tall paper bags to put your yard and garden compostables in.  I had gotten several for the fall clean up and there was this one left that wasn't quite full and the city doesn't take these during the winter.

Yesterday I noticed that the squirrels have taken ALL the paper parts and left the inside which is mostly day lilly leaves in place!

You would think the day lilly leaves would make better nesting material than the paper.  May be they wanted the paper to write nasty notes or wall paper their living rooms!
Then this morning I step out the back porch and there is this big pile of pigeon feathers. Kind of hard to tell in this picture but the white stuff is feathers.  Covers about a 3'x3' area.

I am assuming the neighborhood falcon was out for breakfast.

Neighborhood Falcon

This photo doesn't really do it justice.

I was walking back from coffee and saw the perfect silhouette of a bird on the side of a house.  I realised that the bird must be very very close because the shadow was large and defined.

That's when I saw the falcon perched in a tree.  It was may 15 feet away from me.  By the time I got my cell phone camera out, she had hopped up the same tree so was still close but not like at first.

I heard birds still chirping and singing which I thought was odd with this major predator bird so close.  That's when I noticed the bush next to the sidewalk had about half dozen sparrows in it.  They were not about to fly out even though I was standing right next to them.

I love my neighborhood.

Creepy

Was walking down the alley toward the house. Lots of crows on the trees and alley itself. Looked up into the trees and with te crows is the neighborhood falcon.

I counted 18 crows and one falcon. The falcon flew away with the crows following. Then a flock of pigeons flew off inthe other direction.

The whole thing seemed very creepy.
