Winter to Spring

The time of year when it is usually warm enough during the day to enjoy the sun but still cold enough that the ice is still on the lakes.

It was chilly today but sunny. Some trees are definitely showing signs of Spring.

More signs of Spring

These two large earthworms were under the trash bag when I picked it up to put at the curb. Somehow they got to the middle of the drive just to hang out under the plastic garbage bag. It isn't very earthworm friendly place.

Even more Spring

The flowers at Top Shelf at 31st and Lyndale are always so incredible. This year's tulips are beautiful.

The bonus is there will be more and varied types to follow these.

More Spring

On my run Saturday passed this beautiful tulip tree on bloom.

And in my own backyard the snowmix is starting to bloom. You can just make out a honey bee checking out the blooms.

Twenty-four hours later

Spring took a little break today. I actually like seeing crocus with snow.

More Spring springing

Forecast is for snow tomorrow unless it all lands south of the metro. Still supposed to be colder. We've had a couple of days in the 50's which has the crocus popping out.

Also, these weird bugs have apparently awakened from hibernation and are swarming at the garage.

Is Spring really springing?

We have had a string of warm and humid days. Temperature records are being broken for afternoon highs and high overnight lows.

A sure sign of Spring for me is the Song Sparrow song. I also call it the Boundary Waters bird. On our annual trips into the BWCAW, we hear this bird's song all the time. In the BWCAW the song has another verse that it does not have on its migration through Minneapolis.

Turn up your volume to hear the song...before the plane noise gets too loud. The song his two 'tweets'...the first higher than the second.

The little flower garden in the alley next to the church does have plants breaking through already. When the sun is shining, you can really think it is Spring already.

Another sign of Spring

The weather is sure not co-operating today, or for the rest of March I hear, but I did find the chisel I dropped while clearing the ice dam.

It is rather rusty right now but that can be cleaned.

The patio furniture just has some snow and ice around the feet and the top of the water fountain rock is now visible.

In a couple more months we should be well into a Minnesota Spring!
