The potential of Spring

The lilac bush is full of buds. I love the dark purple color. With the warm weather this week, I am looking forward to the bush being full of blossoms soon.

Annual annual flower shopping

Martha and I made are annual trip to Malmborg's annual annuals sale. This will be the last year at the Brooklyn Center location. The site is being sold to a charter school.

I worked here for a few weeks back when I had down time between shows. Martha has worked here on and off for many years. Including this year.... she not only bought some flowers but got a part-time job.

Nye's Polonaise

There is the dinner club in Minneapolis called Nye's Polonaise. It is an institution and I think I may have only been there one other time in my 20+ years hear. Like all good things it, too, must come to an end.

A developer wants to build a high-rise apartment on the site so Nye's is due to close. No one really knows when.

Thanks to Jennifer Coté for organizing a happy hour. So much fun. So many laughs. Our fantastic waitress, Roxanne, plied us with stories.

New top-down/bottom-up honeycomb blinds

I went to a home remodel contractor fair recently. It was sponsored by my neighborhood newspaper. I was looking bathroom project contactors, floor refinished, exterior painter and fencing.

I found a bathroom contractor, floor refinished and exterior painter. I also found a Budget Blinds franchisee. I have been wanting to get top-down/bottom-up honeycomb blinds for a long, long time.

Below are the before and after photos from the sun room. There are 10 windows on the sunroom alone. I also got a new blind for dining room and kitchen.

The photos do not show the old lady shears that I've had since I moved in 20+ years ago! The roller blonds all still work. I can only imagine how old they are.

Steve, owner, of Budget Blinds of Edina was fantastic.

Rinning for Brunch - Goldy's Run

Our third year for Gold's 5K at the University of Minnesota. The finish line is the 50 yard line of TCF Bank Stadium with the jumbo-tron displaying. Way cool.

We were "costumed" in UofM gear.

Snow on Friday followed by the 70's on Saturday.

This is what Friday morning looked like. Huge snowflakes coming down covered the ground in white.
And here is a video of the snow. It was pretty.
But the snow did not last. By the afternoon it was in the 50's and on Saturday we made it to 73. Saturday and Sunday have been beautiful.

The mosquito and the bald eagle

This could be a child's fable or nature battle. It is neither. Walking downtown this evening to catch my bus home, a mosquito lands on my hand. It was an easy kill. But really? A mosquito? It is early April. We DO NOT need a mosquito.

And now the eagle. Running around Lake Calhoun, I see a girl with her camera phone. I look where she is looking and there is a bald eagle not 10 feet away in a small tree right next to the path and the lake. Amazing.

Two very Minnesota things...a mosquito and a bald eagle.
