The giant Christmas cactus is starting to bloom. The buds have been looking like Christmas light bulbs for quite a while... almost glowing pink. Now they are starting to open up.

More Thanksgiving
I cooked a turkey this year. I can't remember the last time I prepared the Thanksgiving turkey along with stuffing and gravy.
Christine's parents could not make the trip this year but the rest of us kept the tradition and shared the making of the feast.
I brined the turkey overnight with coarse kosher salt, honey, rubbed sage and cracked red pepper. It turned out great.

My neighbors are moving back east
I met Sari Ketter back in my Washington DC days at Arena Stage. It was because of her that I first came to Minneapolis and The Guthrie.
I ended up buying the house directly across the street from Sari and her husband Mather Dolph not knowing they lived there. Sari and Mather have one son, Charlie Dolph, who I have seen grow into a tall, handsome young man who now lives in Ohio.
The Ketter-Dolphs and I have been neighbors for over 20 years. I will miss them very much.

So cute
I fondly remember living in D.C. just up from the National Zoo getting to visit the pandas and other animals any time.
From USA TODAY Watch: Panda cub attempts first steps The National Zoo's panda cam caught the cub working her hind legs to try and stand up. http://usat.ly/I5WTC7 Get USA TODAY on your mobile device: http://www.usatoday.com/mobile-apps

Snow and other things falling
We had a first "measurable" snow on Tuesday. Certainly nothing to be scared over. In Uptown the snow was not much more than a coating.
Then on Thursday morning the annual dropping of the ginko tree leaves occurred. As is often the case, the trees in front of my house will drop all there leaves in one big swoosh. While there doesn't appear to be a big 'swoosh' this year, it is still fun to see and watch.
