Another round of cold but this one is predicted to be short. The wind is fierce today making it feel a whole lot more cold.

Snow Finally
It has been a long time since our last measurable snowfall. Yesterday it started out as rain, sleet and ice pellets. Fortunately it quickly changed.over to all snow otherwise it could have been a bigger mess.
There was enough snow to shovel and it is the wet, sticky kind so the trees and bushes are beautifully covered.

Deep Freeze - Day 4
This might be the last day of the super cold. It did get to 18 yesterday mid-day then fell off super fast with a fierce wind.
Forecast is for rising temps today and a little bit of snow tonight. I've been a wimp and not run so far this week. Perhaps this evening if I get off work at decent time.

Deep Freeze - Day 3
Almost 20 degrees warmer than yesterday and still in the single digits. Temperature rose overnight.
It warmed up to snow just a little tiny bit. Forecast is for falling temperatures during the day.

Winter running
I thought it would difficult to keep up my running in the winter time. But I have been able to keep a pretty good routine of about twice per week.
First I was concerned with the early setting sun. Thanks to my 50th birthday gift which included a day glo safety vest and beanie cap I am bright and reflective. And wearing my camping headlamp lets me see oncoming runners.
The hardest part about running after dark are the vehicle head lights. I now know what deer feel like.
The other part of winter runnning I was wary if was the cold. But that, too, has turned out not to be an issue.
I wear three layers on top and my workout pants were already double layered. The legs really generate a lot if heat and I always arrive sweaty at home no matter how cold.

Would anyone notice?
My reading light would not stay on. The flight attendants were harried because of turbulence and a shortened service time.
I had the note stuck to the back if the seat in front of me. But when the lead attendant came by for trash I gave it to her. She was very appreciative.

Co-worker and running mate
I work with Melinda on my current project. She lives very south of Denver and often drives to Denver when I am here.
Melinda is a runner and has done many half marathons and one full marathon. It is nice to have someone to run with.
We ducked out of work a little early to get a run in today before the sun set. It was.in the mid 50's so could not pass it up.

A beautiful winter day
Coffee with the first Saturday gang, a run around Lake Calhoun, driving around south Minneapolis for shopping errand and this beautiful view of Lake Calhoun on the way home.
